Brief
A family home that also has to work as a set. Two of India’s most-watched creators film here, so rooms need to read on camera without being built as studios.
Constraint
A conventional plan puts circulation in corridors and cameras in corners. Neither survives contact with a household that films daily.
Approach
Curved walls set the circulation instead of corridors. The geometry is drawn first as a section, then built — plaster ribs turn around the light rather than sitting under it, so every sightline has a lit surface behind it.
Material palette
- Moulded plaster
- Black lacquer
- Backlit stone
- Brushed brass
- Deep-pile wool
Outcome
The pool went in the basement. The workstation is black, end to end. The theatre is the only room in the house that is allowed to be loud.
